Descriptif
The class aims at introducing the modern theory of coherence of light and describe applications in connection to current research. Two different topics are considered. The first part of the course (D. Clément) is dedicated to general coherence properties (temporal and spatial) are reviewed in close relation with ideas developed in the context of quantum optics (as field correlator and photo-detection process). The second part of the course (V. Josse) is dedicated to laser speckle phenomena, which is related to spatial coherence properties of the light when propagating to a random scattering medium. An important objective of this part is to introduce the modern field of research of wave propagation and how to use spatial coherence to implement innovative imaging techniques in complex media. In particular a seminar will be given by K. Vynck (LP2N, Bordeaux) on current research topic. |
